From a hobby to a symbol of Istrian truffles
Our story did not begin in an office or a modern facility, but in the silence of the Motovun forest. Back in 1950, guided by instinct and love for nature, our nono set out with the first trained dogs in search of hidden treasures under the ground. Back then, truffles were a closely guarded secret of local families, and we decided to nurture that secret and share it with you.
Today, three generations later, Istria Truffles are more than a craft - they are a tribute to our ancestors and a sustainable way of life that celebrates Istrian tradition.

A timeline of our growth
1950
1950 - The first tracks in the forest
Nono Bartolić starts truffle hunting as a hobby. The first discoveries of truffles in the valley of the Mirna river lay the foundations of the family's passion.
1980
1980 - Transfer of knowledge
The tradition is spreading. Our father takes over the first search dogs and learns how to recognize the microlocations that give the best quality fruits.
2017
2017 - Official foundation of the brand: Obrt Tartufi Istra
Family passion gets its official name. We open a business with a clear vision: to bring authentic truffles to the table of every gourmet.
2018
2018 - First physical store in Motovun
We're going back to where it all started. We are opening our first branch in medieval Motovun, right next to the heart of the white truffle habitat.
2019
2019 - Launch of the webshop
We enable truffle lovers from all over Croatia and Europe to order fresh truffles and our delicacies directly to their doorstep.
2021
2021 - Expansion to the coast: Rovinj tasting room
In one of the most beautiful cities of the Adriatic, we are opening an exclusive tasting room, offering tourists a full sensory experience of Istria.

2024 - The smell of truffles in Poreč
We continue to grow by opening a modern tasting room in Poreč, becoming an indispensable point for all visitors to the west coast of Istria.

2026 - Webshop redesign
We are introducing state-of-the-art technology for faster shopping and an educational portal about truffles, combining tradition with the digital future.
