Truffle hunting from Rovinj: where does the forest tour take place?

Staying in Rovinj and looking for a truffle hunting experience? Our forest tours take place in the Motovun Forest in inland Istria. A tasting in Rovinj and a hunt in the forest are different experiences, so choose the option that fits your plans before arranging your visit.

On a truffle hunting tour with Tartufi Istra, you join local hunters and trained dogs to discover how truffles are found. You can enquire about a forest hunt or a hunt with tasting. If you prefer a seated food experience without a forest walk, ask about our tasting options in Rovinj or Motovun.

Planning your visit from Rovinj

Send us your preferred date, the number of adults and children, and the experience you would like to join. Let us know that you are staying in Rovinj. We will confirm availability and the meeting arrangements for your chosen experience.

For the forest hunt, use the confirmed meeting location when planning your journey. The address of a shop or tasting room is not automatically the departure point for a tour. Wait for the team’s instructions before setting your route.

If you need help with transport, mention this in your enquiry. Do not assume that pickup in Rovinj or a transfer is included: any transport arrangements need to be confirmed separately.

Forest hunt or tasting in Rovinj?

Forest hunt: follow a hunter and trained dogs in the Motovun Forest and learn about the search for truffles.
Hunt with tasting: combine the forest experience with the tasting option agreed with the team.
Tasting: explore truffle products and Istrian flavours without joining a forest walk. Ask about availability in Rovinj or Motovun.

Explore our tasting rooms and truffle shops if you are deciding between a forest outing and a tasting.

What to mention when children are joining

Include the children’s ages in your enquiry and tell us about any mobility needs or other considerations. Forest terrain and weather conditions affect the experience. The team can discuss a suitable option before confirming your visit.

Comfortable shoes suitable for walking outdoors are a useful starting point. Ask about clothing and the conditions expected for your date. You do not need to know how to find truffles yourself: the hunter and dogs lead the search.
